A note about inconsistencies in the Great Book's 10 year reading lists
Please note that Adler's 10-year suggested reading list in Britannica's Great
Books is not consistent between edition one and edition two. Edition one's
10-year reading list is somewhat different from edition two's.
Our own reading list is a compromise between those two lists, and has some
other significant modifications. We only use Alder's readings as a general
guide to our own selected readings. We will generally follow the authors
listed in Adler's suggested reading, but we may choose to read the entirety
of particular books by those authors, instead of reading only a small
selection as frequently suggested by Adler. The goal is to read many of the
original texts of these authors directly and unfiltered.
